As I’ve said throughout my campaign: elections are not a one-person show—it takes a village. Staff, volunteers, fellow county clerks, and the Secretary of State all work together to ensure success. Elections do not fail—and they will not fail. That is the standard.

But meeting the standard isn’t enough. What are we doing to make elections better?

Elections are constantly evolving. Laws change. Technology advances. Communities grow. What truly matters is the ability to lead, manage, and continuously improve the process.

RUNNING A SUCCESSFUL ELECTION AT THE LOCAL LEVEL REQUIRES:

• Attention to Detail

• Effective Communication

• Problem-Solving Abilities

• Time Management

• Adaptability

• Integrity and Confidentiality

• Team Collaboration

• Customer Service Orientation

I’ve spent 14 years perfecting the skills this job demands—and my background proves it.

I’ve worked in every support staff position in the Nye County District Attorney’s Office. I’ve built a successful woman-owned business from the ground up. I’m a college-educated professional with a track record that reflects dedication, growth, and results.

These aren’t just titles, they represent years of hands-on experience, problem-solving, and commitment to doing things the right way. Achievements like these don’t happen without strong leadership, attention to detail, and the ability to adapt and improve.

Everything I do is with one goal in mind, making improvements!

Nye County deserves innovation, efficiency, and forward-thinking leadership.

Let’s work smarter—not harder.

WHAT EXPERIENCE DOES IT TAKE TO BECOME NYE COUNTY CLERK:

The Clerk’s Office is more than just elections—it’s the backbone of daily county operations.

Responsibilities

• Attending and recording minutes at county board meetings

• Maintaining public records

• Overseeing election logistics and compliance, including:

• Filing deadlines and requirements

• Early voting schedules and polling place locations

• Voter information and resources

• Certifying election results

• Managing access to public records and ensuring transparency in local government

Essential Skills

• Election Procedures and Compliance

• Voter Registration Database Management

• Ballot Counting and Verification

• Data Entry and Record Keeping

• Use of Election Management Software

• Operating Electronic Voting Machines

• Report Generation and Documentation

• Attention to Detail in Audit Processes

• Basic IT Troubleshooting

• Knowledge of Confidentiality and Security Protocols

WHAT THE ROLE REALLY IS VS WHAT IT ISNT:

The primary responsibility of the Nye County Clerk is simple and clear, “to administer the duties of the office as prescribed by law”.

When it comes to elections, the framework is already established. The Secretary of State provides:

  • Election procedures and compliance standards

  • Ballot counting systems and verification processes

  • Election management software

  • Voting equipment and operational guidance

  • Required training for Clerks and their staff

Every Clerk—and every member of their team—is trained and required to follow these standards.

So what does that mean?

Elections are not built from scratch at the local level. They are guided, structured, and supported at the state level to ensure consistency, accuracy, and security.

The real responsibility at the county level is execution.

  • Managing people and processes

  • Ensuring compliance is followed every step of the way

  • Maintaining organization, accuracy, and accountability

  • Leading a team to carry out these duties effectively

The system is in place. The training is provided.

What matters most is leadership, experience, and the ability to administer the office efficiently and responsibly. My experience lines up closely with the core election skills. The gap isn’t capability; it’s how clearly can I connect the dots for the public.

HOW MY EXPERIENCE COMPARES TO ELECTION RESPONSIBILITIES:

Election Procedures & Compliance

My experience: Overseeing compliance with statutes, ensuring criminal procedure requirements are met, following and enforcing procedures

I already work in a rules-driven environment where accuracy and compliance are critical.

Voter Registration Database Management

My experience: Case management databases, analyzing system data, maintaining records

Different system, same concept—managing large, sensitive datasets with accuracy.

Ballot Counting & Verification

My experience: Audit processes, report verification, attention to procedural accuracy

The same level of scrutiny and precision applies—just in a different context.

Data Entry & Record Keeping

My experience: Civil and criminal record maintenance, court minutes, data entry

This is a direct match—high-volume, high-accuracy documentation.

Election Management Software & Technology

My experience: Implementing new case management software, working with developers, operating office systems

I don’t just use systems—I helped build and improve them.

Operating Voting Equipment

My experience: Operating a wide variety of office machinery and systems

The technical adaptability is already there.

Report Generation & Documentation

My experience: Pulling reports for state requirements, documenting court proceedings

I already produce official, high-stakes documentation.

Audit Processes & Attention to Detail

My experience: Completing audits, ensuring procedural compliance, managing deadlines

One of my strongest overlaps—precision work under pressure.

Basic IT Troubleshooting

My experience: Coordinating with developers, implementing systems, working with databases

I have above-basic technical problem-solving ability.

Confidentiality & Security Protocols

My experience: Handling criminal/civil records, protecting sensitive information

This is a direct, critical match.

My background isn’t just “related”—it mirrors the core functions of running an election office. The environments are different, but the required skills—accuracy, compliance, systems management, and accountability—are nearly identical.

If anything, my experience shows something even more valuable: I’ve already worked in high-pressure, high-stakes public service where mistakes aren’t an option.

THE BOTTOM LINE:

Elections change every time we approach an election. A candidate must possess the skills necessary to improve and adapt to the process. Nye County is continuing to grow. We need improvements, not the “this is how we have always done it” approach.
